Here are 16 tales of sudden death in Wisconsin, ranging in time from 1842 to 1926. They include the murder of C. P. Arndt in Council by his fellow councillor, James Vineyard - the poisoning of Ella Maly in Richland Center - the doing away with Mrs. Hattie Hales by the wolf at the church social in La Crosse. Here is the curious case of the sudden death of Dr. William Duval's wife, and here, too, an account of the tribulations of Sarah Ingersoll following the death of her husband, Daniel. Not the least of these instructive studies is that of the murder of Mrs. Mary Newman Roberts, a famous Wisconsin murder that evoked reams of print in its time.
Book is solid and clean; black binding cloth is clean and shiny; boards are unbumped and corners sharp; gilt lettering on spine is bright; pages are clean and bright.
